Of the 7 candidates, it's hard to believe that the "best fit" was a straight white male...for the SF Bay area of all places???? Sounds like you all wanted a "Daddy" just like all the previous Daddy's. Did the threats get to you? Or, were you just lazy in not rallying a vote at least for a straight white female if all the gay candidates left you cold? Whatever the reasons, you really let your diocese down. Oh, you'll have a good bishop. He just won't make history. He'll be the staus quo guy. And, let's be honest, the Good Shepherd we follow didn't manintain the staus quo. Deep down inside you all must be a little disappointed with yourselves...not that you'll admit it. Truth is tho', many of us are just way too tired of the status quo to enthusiastically applaud your lackluster efforts.Beyond Reconciliationnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7674624297271677945.post-57266034920419019532006-05-09T13:27:32.933-07:002006-05-09T13:27:32.933-07:00Truth be told, yes, I am somewhat disappointed by ...Truth be told, yes, I am somewhat disappointed by the fact that we have yet another straight white male bishop. And, I think Andrus will be an excellent bishop for us. His heart and politics are spot on for our diocese. (That's not to say that the others weren't.) It would be foolish to be blinded by his sexuality. I don't think Andrus' election was cowardly; I predict that he will move us faster and so much farther than we've ever gone before.Greenfrognoreply@blogger.com
